T. Shirai Received 17 July 2002; published 22 April 2003 A novel superconducting (sc) structure is proposed, to accelerate a high intensity proton beam within the energy range of 5–20 MeV. The comparison with different sc structures from the point of view of both rf efficiency and technological aspects of manufacture looks promising. Results of m.a.f.i.a. simulations are given. ©2003 The American Physical Society
